MR. BEN KIMBROUGH HAS BEEN SELECTED AS OUR LEGACY PERSON FOR THE 2ND QUARTER...
Mr. Ben Kimbrough was born June 6, 1928 in Clarksville, Tennessee. He graduated from Austin Peay State University in 1951, where he earned the Drane Award as outstanding graduate. He served in the Army from 1953-1955. After his service he returned to the Clarksville area and made it home. Having grown up in Clarksville Mr. Kimbrough has always had an interest in the military and Fort Campbell. He has served the community in many positions to include Montgomery County Commissioner, Chairman of the Clarksville-Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce, and President of the Austin Peay Alumni Association.
Mr. Kimbrough is currently serving as the Civilian Aide to the Secretary of the Army Emeritus, and the Chairman of Gateway Health Foundation, along with continuing to interact and serve on many other boards. His personal interests include the Hunting-Fishing-Bridge, Club Le Conte-Knoxville, TN, Clarksville Civitan Club, and the Clarksville Country Club.
In spite of Mr. Kimbrough’s busy schedule he has continued to give of his time and remain an active part of the Fort Campbell Historical Foundation and the Preserve the Legacy campaign, serving on the National Board of Advisors. He offers nothing but the best advice and gives willingly of his knowledge and business experience.
His dedication to the quest to build the new Wings of Liberty Military Museum and historical Complex started in 1995 with his personal donation of $25,000. This donation was part of the initial monies used to started this great project, and helped show positive support within the community. Mr. Kimbrough believes this project is a vehicle to drive the local communities. He also feels it will give a large tourism base and good economic growth for the region. The Foundation would like to thank Mr. Kimbrough for his continued selfless service, and personal commitment to this project.
