MR. DAVID P. TURNER HAS BEEN SELECTED AS OUR LEGACY PERSON FOR THE QUARTER...
Mr. David P. Turner has been selected to be honored as our quarterly Legacy person for his time, dedication, and in-kind donations to the new “Wings of Liberty” Military Museum project and the Fort Campbell Historical Foundation.
Mr. Turner has been a member of the Don F. Pratt Museum Foundation since 1996 and has remained current yearly. He has also given in-kind contributions to the “Preserve the Legacy” campaign.
Mr. Turner was born Oct. 1, 1944, entered the USAF in October, 1962 and was stationed at Fairchild AFB in Spokane, WA, in December, 1962. His awards and decorations include the Air Force Commendation Medal which he received for meritorious service Sept. 7, 1965 to Aug. 10, 1966 as an Airman First Class. He served with Strategic Air Command as the Base Commander's Aid until his honorable discharge in June 1966 at the rank of S/Sgt. which was achieved in less than four years of active duty.
After his discharge Mr. Turner completed his college education at Whitworth College in Spokane, WA. He worked in Public Relations for Whitworth College and two other colleges prior to entering the publishing business in 1977. He established Turner Publishing Company, headquarters in Paducah, KY, in 1985, and has published more than 800 titles consisting of county/family history books, police and fire department books, as well as specialty books such as Former Special Agents of the FBI. Turner Publishing Company is the largest military association history book publisher in the nation with more than 400 titles including those on the 101 st Airborne Division, 82nd Airborne Division, 11 th Airborne Division, and 173d Airborne Brigade, as well as many others representing all the branches of military service from WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam, and the Gulf War.
Mr. Turner's father was a U.S. Navy veteran, his only brother, S/Sgt. John H. Turner, was KIA while serving with the Special Forces on his second tour of duty in Vietnam in 1968, and his oldest son, Justin, is a U.S. Marine. Mr. Turner and his wife, Shelly reside in Paducah, KY.
